2017-18 PLNA Foundation Scholarship Recipients

The Foundation awarded two $5000 scholarships this school year. The application process for the program was revamped and the students were required to write a professional resume and essay regarding their career aspirations. Each applicant impressed the PLNA Foundation Trustees with their passion for the industry. Congratulations to the 2017-18 PLNA Foundation Scholarship Recipients!

Aaron Sledge, Jr. - Pennsylvania College of Technology
– Aaron is in his 2nd year at Penn College of Technology with a major in landscape/horticulture technology with a Plant Production emphasis. Brandon has made Dean’s List at Penn College.  Aaron's passion for plants resulted in multiple internships with Phipps Conservatory in Pittsburgh and he manages the interior plant greenhouse at Penn College. Brandon expects to graduate in May 2018.

Isabella Tafa - The Pennsylvania State University
Isabella (Bella) is pursuing her degree in Design/Build in the Landscape Contracting major at Penn State along with an Aboriculture minor.  This year Bella was honored with the position of Horticulture Show manager for the Penn State Hort Club. This show is highlighted annually during homecoming week on campus.  Earlier this year she was chosen to participate in an embedded course which examined the landscapes, history and culture of Ireland and was awarded a 10-day trip to Ireland to participate.  Isabella plans to graduate in May 2018.
