Join Tim Abbey and Nancy Bosold of Penn State Extension and Jimmy Kreider, PCH-SLC, from LandStudies, Inc. for this combination classroom and walking tour educational experience on the fastest growing area in horticulture.   Learn the hows and whys of the impact that sustainable landscapes will have on the environmental, economic and social aspects of the future and what you need to know to start your journey into sustainable landscaping.

The combination of classroom and walking tour will provide a unique insight to various types of sustainable landscape installations.  You will see and learn what is required to maintain these projects and the impact when they are not maintained.  And for another unique twist, the day will conclude with a refreshing ice cream social at the last stop on the walking tour – Oregon Dairy.

Projects that will be visited include floodplain restoration and rain gardens at Landis Homes, Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP) Riparian Buffer Project and a small wildflower meadow at Oregon Dairy.  Each of these projects provide a different example of the sustainable landscape installations.
The Pennsylvania Certified Horticulturist (PCH) Sustainable Landscapes Study Manual will be used as the outline/basis of the day's topics and discussions.  It is recommended that you make this additional purchase when you register so you have the course information available to you.  Attendees can purchase this manual at a discounted rate by using the Promo Code SLC2014 when entering your payment information.  This promo code provide a discount of 10% and FREE shipping.

The tour is limited to 30 participants so register early.  The registration deadline is August 12, 2014.  No walk-ins will be accepted.  The session will be held rain or shine.

This educational walking tour qualifies for 6 PCH and CLT CEUs and Pesticide Credits will also be available.
