Evangelical Christians, Law Enforcement and Business Coalesce Around Immigration Reform
WASHINGTON, D.C. - A grassroots coalition of evangelical Christians, law enforcement leaders and business leaders, who refer to themselves as Bibles, Badges, and Business, have joined forces to advocate for comprehensive immigration reform.
Support for Rubio
The group held its first advocacy event last Thursday to let Senator Marco Rubio (R - Florida) know that they appreciate his leadership in pushing comprehensive immigration reform. The coalition poured thousands of calls into Rubio’s office to express their support.
The American Nursery and Landscape Association (ANLA) organized green industry participation in this advocacy event and has been a key player in bringing the grassroots coalition together.
Gang of Eight
Rubio is a member of the so-called "Gang of Eight.” The Gang of Eight is a group of eight U.S. senators, four Republicans and four Democrats, who are working together on a bipartisan solution to the immigration problem.
Rubio has taken some criticism from within the Republican Party for his outspoken support for comprehensive immigration reform that includes a path to citizenship for undocumented workers now in the U.S., as well as strengthening border security and reforming guest worker programs.
