Sets Eyes on Erie County Executive

Kathy DahlkemperERIE - The Erie Reader announced last week that former U.S. Rep. Kathy Dahlkemper was ending her quest for Pennsylvania's governorship in 2014 and setting her sights, instead, on Erie County executive.

"I would like to confirm and clarify my plans. I intend to run for Erie County executive this year,” Dahlkemper wrote. "I have spent recent months pursuing various options, including a run for [Pennsylvania] Governor. I have decided that serving the people of northwest Pennsylvania as county executive affords me the greatest opportunity to help advance the region I love so much.”

If the name Dahlkemper rings a bell, Kathy, and her husband Dan, run Dahlkemper Landscape Architects and Contractors in Erie. Her father-in-law, Chuck Dahlkemper, founded the company and is a past president of PLNA.

In December, Dahlkemper announced that she was exploring a run for Pennsylvania governor in 2014. She made her plans known at the annual Pennsylvania Society gathering of Pennsylvania business, labor and political leaders in New York City in December of last year. Dan Dahlkemper, recently a PLNA board member, confirmed his wife's plans at PLNA's December board meeting.

We wish her well in her new quest for Erie County executive.
