WASHINGTON, D.C. - As you may have noticed, when it comes to Congress and immigration reform, the glass is half full. There is better momentum and there is more political space that we’ve had in years. Bipartisan working groups in both the House and Senate are far along in the development of legislative packages.
Meanwhile, how to sustain momentum? For years, our struggle has been to overcome inertia, and roll the big rock uphill. Now, the rock is rolling, and the challenges are to direct the motion and sustain the momentum. This becomes especially important as the organized opponents of immigration reform are ramping up, running negative ads attacking Sens. McCain and Graham, and who knows what next?
With all this in mind, and given the fact that spring will soon consume most of our folks, ANLA and OFA are pushing out a legislative alert urging grassroots messages to the Senate and House, as well as phone calls to state/district offices. It is posted at http://www.capwiz.com/anla/issues/alert/?alertid=62547256.
Timing is good. So as they say, no time like the present! Please let your voice be heard!
