Congratulations to PLNA members, Bucks Country Gardens and Mostardi Nursery, who were named as Revolutionary 100 Garden Centers of 2014!
All those who wish to be a Revolutionary 100 Garden Center must fill out an extensive survey, which is designed to give the staff of Today's Garden Center insight to the store's business ability and how creative it is in approaching merchandising, marketing and customer service. Those with the strongest answers make the list. This year 224 surveys were submitted and among those selected are PLNA members, Bucks Country Gardens of Doylestown, Pennsylvania and Mostardi Nursery of Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.
Bucks Country Gardens has been in business for 20 years and shares a list of over twenty things that they are doing to maintain their excellence from having a receptionist answer their phones all day every day to partnering with a local shed company displaying two of their garden sheds and a playground at the garden center earning them a 5 percent commission on anything they sell. See the full list submitted here.
Mostardi Nursery has been in business for 37 years and shares that they support local community service non-profits such as Pennsylvania Resources Council and the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society which in turn enables them to grow their business by expanding their influence to a larger segment of the community. This has proven to be an effective method of marketing the nursery, generating publicity and good will while increasing the sales of their products all while improving the well being of those they serve through the eco-friendly benefits of their plants. Read how their innovative approach is profitable for them here.
