Clarification: Sales Tax and Delivery Charge

HARRISBURG – Last month, e-News contained an answer to a question about how sales taxes are levied on delivery charges. The answer was correct, but incomplete. What was not included in the answer was that delivery charges that are billed directly by the carrier (i.e., FedEx, UPS, etc.) are not subject to sales and use taxes, regardless of the tax status of the items being shipped.
