HARRISBURG - The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture released an updated draft of the new Controlled Plant and Noxious Weed Law in October. The draft had not changed much from prior drafts.
The major change in this draft is that the number of public members on the Controlled Plant Committee has been reduced from five to three. The landscape and nursery industry retains its position on the panel.
In addition, this is the first draft that contains PLNA-sought language that allows the public members to designate alternates to serve in their place if the public member cannot attend a meeting.
PDA is now seeking potential sponsors for the draft legislation in the General Assembly.
