Growing GreenerHARRISBURG – The Wolf Administration is gearing up for a third round of the popular “Growing Greener” environmental, farmland preservation and green infrastructure grant program.

In previous phases, Growing Greener projects included street tree plantings, riparian buffer plantings along streams, park development projects and other projects that use trees, plants and landscape contractor services.

Although planning is in the early stages at this point and details are scant, Administration sources say that they plan to announce the third phase of this program in February with the Governor’s Budget for FY2016-17.

The Administration has sought input from a wide variety of groups including agriculture, environmental groups, local government associations and sportsmen’s clubs. PLNA has been involved in some of the preliminary meetings.

Issues such as the size and scope of the third phase, the types of projects that will be targeted, funding sources and other details are being worked out. Stay tuned to PLNA e-News for information on GGIII as it develops.
