PLNA has partnered with the Monarch Red Carpet Project to increase awareness and promote action to save the Monarch Butterfly. The goal is to engage business and industry in restoring habitat along the butterfly's migration path. The current project area is focused along the Route 11/15 corridor in central Pennsylvania and the project is looking for PLNA members to assist in providing plants and services to increase the population of this beloved pollinator.

On May 12, a kick-off event was held at the Country Cupboard & Susquehanna River Valley Visitor's Bureau in Lewisburg. PLNA members Creative Plantscapes, Ernst Conservation Seeds, and North Creek Nurseries participated.  Milkweed seeds for distribution to those in attendance were provided by Ernst Conservation Seeds, milkweed seedlings for planting by children in attendance were provided by North Creek Nurseries, and Creative Plantscapes did the design and installation of the milkweed garden.

As the project moves along throughout the state we would like to offer more of our members plants and services.  If your company is interested in participating to "Roll out the Monarch Red Carpet", please contact Cathy Corrigan at ccorrigan@PLNA.com or 717.238.1683.
