Eichenlaub, Inc. & Waterfall Gardens
2013 Exceptional Leadership
Eichenlaub, Inc. of Pittsburgh and Waterfall Gardens of Shillington have received PLNA’s 2013 Exceptional Leadership Award. The award this year was given to two companies, in recognition of their significant efforts over the years as volunteers to produce the Landscape Industry Certified Technician (also known as CLT) professional certification exams. These exams test specific knowledge and hands-on skills of those in the landscape installation and maintenance industries.
PLNA is recognizing these two companies because a CLT exam for them is an "all hands” event. While CLT requires the help of many other volunteers and staff to be successful, without the exceptional leadership of these companies, the CLT summer exam at the Berks campus of Penn State and the winter indoor exam in Pittsburgh simply would not happen. These companies - their leaders and many of their employees - are involved in planning the exams, setting up the exams, judging the exams and tearing down after the exam concludes.
"Company CEO’s Dan Eichenlaub and Tom Wambaugh and many of their employees have shown outstanding dedication to advancing professionalism in this industry, " said Jim MacKenzie, president of Octoraro Native Plant Nursery and PLNA’s board chairman. " These companies demonstrate their commitment to excellence by supporting these exams as volunteers and encouraging their employees to get certified".
