James Kreider, LandStudies, Inc.
2015 Green Achiever

The PLNA Green Achiever Award is given to recognize an individual who is relatively new to the horticulture industry and is an upcoming leader within PLNA and the industry. The winner is judged in the areas of PLNA, community, business and industry contributions. The Award was created in 1999 to pay tribute to a growing group of younger professionals who are making their mark in green the industry.

This year’s recipient is James Kreider. James is the Director of Field Operations at LandStudies, Inc. in Lititz.  James is a graduate of Bridgewater College in Virginia with a BS in Environmental Science. He began his career by spending summers performing site construction for residential and commercial development through high school and college for the family business. James first connected with LandStudies during undergraduate studies through a summer internship laboring and operating equipment for survey and construction crews on stream and wetland restoration projects. He was hired as a full time environmental scientist in 2006 and quickly transitioned to the field operations division where he now oversees and directs all aspects of estimating and project management for construction.

James was the first Pennsylvania Certified Horticulturist (PCH) to attain the Sustainable Landscapes certification and also serves on the PLNA Professional Development Committee.   James is a frequent presenter on topics including green infrastructure and sustainable landscaping maintenance and construction of green infrastructure and recently assisted in coordinating a Sustainable Landscapes Educational Walking Tour in partnership with PLNA and Penn State Extension.
