2016 Green Achiever

The PLNA Green Achiever Award is given to recognize an individual who is relatively new to the horticulture industry and is an upcoming leader within PLNA and the industry. The winner is judged in the areas of PLNA, community, business and industry contributions. The Award was created in 1999 to pay tribute to a growing group of younger professionals who are making their mark in green the industry.

The 2016 Green Achiever is awarded to John Mark Courtney.  John is the Nursery Manager at Aquascapes Unlimited, Inc. in Pipersville, PA. John's initiative in developing new growing methods of herbaceous wetland perennials and proportionately increasing his customer base is commendable. Spreading the knowledge of the use and benefits of aquatic, carnivorous and herbaceous wetland plants in restoration and ornamental settings speaks loudly to your commitment to advancing the green industry in Pennsylvania.

John has lectured on many topics involving ponds, native wetland plants and bogs, and has also been featured on Martha Stewart's national television show.  John realized from the beginning of his career that the key to being a successful nursery manager is to wear many hats and to wear them well.
