2016-17 PLNA Foundation Scholarship Recipients

The Foundation awarded four $5000 scholarships this school year. The application process for the program was revamped and the students were required to write a professional resume and essay regarding their career aspirations. Each applicant impressed the PLNA Foundation Trustees with their passion for the industry. Congratulations to the 2016-17 PLNA Foundation Scholarship Recipients!

Brandon Graby - Pennsylvania College of Technology
– Brandon is in his 2nd year at Penn College of Technology with a major in landscape/horticulture technology. Brandon has made Dean’s List at Penn College and is also a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the International Honor Society and the school’s horticulture club.  During the summer of 2016, Brandon worked as a Landscape Intern for a PLNA Member, Stony Bridge Landscaping of Lebanon. Brandon expects to graduate in May 2017.

Tiffany Griffie - Pennsylvania College of Technology
Tiffany is pursuing a double major at Penn College, a BS in Business Management and an associate degree in Horticulture with a Landscape Emphasis. Tiffany has made Dean’s List in two different semesters. During the summer of 2016, Tiffany held an internship with a PLNA Member, Davis Landscapes of Harrisburg. During the internship she installed and maintained landscapes and also gained experience with Dynascape software.Tiffany plans to complete her Associate’s degree May 2017 and attain her BS in 2019.

Jennifer Halterman - Penn State University
Jennifer is pursuing a degree in Plant Science at Penn State University. She has maintained Dean’s List for all semesters attended thus far. For the summer of 2016 Jennifer interned at The Arboretum at Penn State and is currently a student worker for the Office of Physical Plant on campus all while maintaining Dean’s list. Jennifer expects to graduate in May 2018.

Hannah Maakestad - Temple University - Ambler
Hannah is pursuing a Bachelors degree in Horticulture at Temple University – Ambler. Recently she also completed the Longwood Gardens Professional Gardener Program – a 2-year intensive program. Hannah has worked at PLNA Member Terrain at Styers and has international volunteer experience at garden shows in the UK and locally at Chanticleer Gardens. Hannah plans to complete her degree in December 2017.
