PLNA Committees

The planning and implementation of most PLNA activities is handled by volunteer groups — advisory groups, short-term task forces, and committees. All groups are supported by PLNA staff. Meetings are generally held at the PLNA office; when appropriate, meetings are conducted by conference calls and e-mail.

Committees have ongoing, results-oriented tasks which require meeting at least once a year. The interaction between group members promotes effective planning and evaluation of tasks.

Government Relations Committee
Reviews legislative activities of Pennsylvania's General Assembly; monitors bills affecting the industry and establishes PLNA's position; contacts legislators on relevant issues; and works with the PA State Council of Farm Organizations on issues common to the green industry and other segments of Pennsylvania agriculture.

Professional Development Committee
Coordinates and promotes the Pennsylvania Certified Horticulturist (PCH), Landscape Industry Certified Technician (CLT) and Sustainable Landscape Certified (SLC) programs.

Membership Committee
Discusses issues that concern membership and develops ideas to enhance the value of PLNA membership.

Nominating Committee
Responsible for encouraging and selecting candidates for the Board and for reviewing and recommending changes to the process as needed to enhance the quality and future viability of the Board of Directors. Prepares the election slate for the Board officers. The committee is comprised of three (3) Board Representatives and two (2) PLNA Members at Large elected by the membership.
