Scott Weikert, Forest Resources Educator, Penn State Extension, will discuss how creative new uses for these trees may become apparent. Join us as Scott unlocks some secrets that trees keep hidden under their stoic canopy. Scott will describe three variables affecting quality, and show us how some common tree characteristics affect the milled wood value.

Scott Weikert is the Forest Resources Educator for Penn State Cooperative Extension in Forest County, PA. Scott’s long experience in the production industry lend insight to repurposing urban tree removal into marketable wood products. Scott’s efforts statewide and beyond include lumber grading workshops, mill process consultation, and solar kiln development.
