At the December meeting of the PLNA Board of Directors the group elected the new officers for 2014.  When the bylaws were changed in 2012, it was determined that the members of the board would nominate and elect among themselves the officers for the upcoming year.  Every officer is required to have a minimum of two years experience on the board prior to being elected to an officer position.  Officer terms shall be for one year or until a successor is elected and it is not incumbent to follow any sequence of advancement in filling the officer positions.

Taking over as chairman is Paul Kimicata of Kimicata Brothers located in Pittsburgh.  Paul has served on the board since 2010 and has served on the membership committee since 2011 and recently became the chairman of that committee.  The new vice-chairman for 2014 is Mike Feeney of Feeney's Wholesale Nursery in Buckingham.  In addition to being a long term member of the government relations committee of PLNA, Mike has served on the Board since 2012.  And taking on the responsibilities of Secretary/Treasurer is Andy Ernst of Ernst Conservation Seeds in Meadville. Andy also serves on the government relations committee and has served as a board member since 2012.

The board also recognized two folks whose terms expired December 31, 2013 and served PLNA graciously over the years as board members ; Jim MacKenzie and Gloria Day.  Most recently Jim served as chairman of the board for the last 3 years, leading the charge during many challenging, but rewarding times.  Jim's service as a board member spanned 11 years, beginning in 2002.   Jim may no longer fill a seat at the board table, but his dedication to PLNA will continue with his service on the Government Relations committee and he was recently elected by the membership to serve on the Nominating Committee to nominate and interview future board member candidates.

Gloria's service on the board began in 2007, volunteering seven consecutive years in this leadership role along with her many years of service on the government relations committee and professional development committee.  Gloria will continue to serve on committees and also represents PLNA on the Invasive Species Council.

The staff of PLNA appreciates the dedication of its members who volunteer in these capacities.   Click here to see more information on the current members serving on the Board of Directors.
