Turf Grass Fertilizer Bill Dead?

SpreaderHARRISBURG – With only six more session days left in the 2014 General Assembly, SB 1149, the EPA-backed turf grass fertilizer bill will probably die at the end of the session November 30.

The bill now sits in the Senate Appropriations Committee and would need to pass both the Senate and House to become law, a scenario that is very unlikely this late in the game.

PLNA has opposed the bill for two main reasons: The bill as written would provide no environmental or water quality benefit to the Chesapeake Bay, and actually may have a detrimental impact on Bay water quality.

And second, the bill would impose real costs on the lawn care industry for no environmental benefit.

For more information on the bill, go to the February 26, 2014 e-News article.

Another case of PLNA advocating successfully for both our green industry and the environment -- well done!
