Congratulations to PLNA members, Mostardi Nursery and Stauffers of Kissel Hill, who were named as Revolutionary 100 Garden Centers of 2015!

Today’s Garden Center revealed which garden retailers made its exclusive 2015 Revolutionary 100 Garden Centers list.

The program, which began in 2006, surveys garden center owners and managers on how they run their businesses. These retailers compete on financial performance, management styles, merchandising, marketing and any other areas that determine if a garden store thrives. The Revolutionary 100 is open to all local garden centers, large and small.

Among those selected are PLNA members, Mostardi Nursery of Newtown Square, Pennsylvania and Stauffers of Kissel Hill of Lititz, Pennsylvania.

Mostardi Nursery has been in business for 38 years and has one location. They feature an intense focus on all types of plants in all seasons offering only those of exceptional quality and great performance in the landscape. They continue to partner with the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society through its Gold Medal Plant Awards Program in order to introduce exceptional plants to the homeowners of their region. A key financial measure taken over the last 12 months was Mostardi Nursery changing their fuel source to natural gas which has substantially reduced heating costs for the garden center. Stauffers of Kissel Hill has been in business for 82 years and has 8 locations. Strategic planning has been a focus for the company over the last year which has resulted in a dramatic plan to include sales growth with an expansion of product mix; a new Business to Business management position added to focus on sales to the trade, commercial accounts, municipalities and charity groups; a reorganization of their buying structure, changing responsibilities as they plan for growth; development of a robust internet business enhancing the consumer's ability to shop their online stores concluding with a successful switch to a new POS and inventory management system in 2014.
