For the first time in 100 years, PLNA has been invited to display the green industry’s contribution to agriculture at the annual Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harrisburg. The 100th anniversary of the show will be celebrated during the 2016 event January 9 through 16, and PLNA is honored to be included in the event. The Farm Show is the largest indoor agricultural exposition in the nation and draws over 500,000 visitors in 8 days. Exhibitors, farmers and consumers come from every corner of the state for this renowned show.

PLNA is taking this opportunity to promote its members to the wide variety of consumers who visit the show. A task force, designated by the Board of Directors, has created a design for the 110’ x 30’ display area. The theme of the display is sustainable landscaping, in line with the overall show theme of sustainability. Included in the display will be concepts that visitors can incorporate into their own landscapes such as a rain chain and rain barrel, vegetated retaining wall, rain garden, permeable patio, vegetated swale and riparian zones with a stream.

As visitors walk around the display they will be able to stop and read information on the benefits of each feature. An information kiosk will be manned during the show to answer questions about the concepts and how a PLNA member can assist them in incorporating one of the concepts into their own landscape. Take away materials will include tips on how to find a professional and point them to PLNA’s consumer website –

There are plenty of opportunities for you, as a member, to participate in this Consumer Awareness effort.

• Donation of plant material;
• Donation of hard goods;
• Volunteer opportunities to assist in building and tear-down of display;
• Volunteer opportunities to man the PLNA Information Kiosk (one-on-one time with potential customers)
• Update your company profile on (Find a Professional)

As this project progresses, we will be emailing you with more details and reminders on the benefits of this effort and how you can participate. Volunteer sign-up and material donation forms will be available on by October 12, 2015.
