HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture has asked PLNA to comment on a draft of best management practices for the green industry to halt the spread of the invasive weed, Palmer amaranth.
Palmer amaranth is resistant to glyphosate and other herbicides. And one plant produces over 100,000 seeds a season. It has come into Pennsylvania on farm equipment transported into the state from areas with the weed. Left unchecked, it quickly takes over agricultural land, making the land unusable.
