Seasonal WorkersHARRISBURG - Governor Wolf signed in to law in the closing days of the General Assembly session, a bill to allow season workers to once again receive unemployment compensation. The General Assembly had amended the Pennsylvania unemployment compensation statute three years ago under Governor Corbett, removing the ability of many seasonal workers to claim and receive UC benefits during the off-season.

The law, Act 144 of 2016, reduces from 49.5 percent to 37 percent the percentage of base-year wages earned by an employee outside their highest quarter of earnings, thereby restoring the percentage that existed prior to being changed three years ago.
