HARRISBURG – With the eradication of the spotted lanternfly (SLF) one of the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s top insect priorities, PDA is seeking qualified vendors to assist with removal of tree of heaven and the establishment of trap trees.  Tree of heaven is the primary host tree in the SLF’s life cycle.

Removal work involves cutting tree of heaven or killing the trees with herbicide.  Application of herbicide to stumps is required.  Trap tree establishment involves bark spray treatment of trees using an insecticide.  Work is awarded through bid.  Qualified vendors must have a category 06 and 10 Pennsylvania Pesticide Applicators License. effort.

The SLF is now in six eastern Pennsylvania counties and the work would be in and around those counties. Learn more about this opportunity and the SLF by going to PDA’s website.
