Landscape WorkersThis week a bipartisan, bicameral H-2B letter to leadership was circulated by Reps. Pingree (D-ME) and Harris (R-MD), and Senators Tillis (R-NC) and King (I-ME) urging that meaningful and permanent H-2B cap relief be included in any agreement to end the partial government shutdown.

At last week's MANTS Show, labor was a major point of discussion. Landscape contractors are deeply concerned that the demand for seasonal visas is at least triple the supply.  Growers are concerned that their landscape customers are not going to have the labor they need for plant installation. This situation could dampen otherwise bright prospects for Spring.

The best path forward is for Congress to include H-2B cap relief in any agreement end the partial government shutdown. Toward that goal, please take 5 minutes to ACT NOW to weigh in with your elected officials.

You can reach your elected officials through the Capitol Switchboard at 202-225-3121.  Once connected to the office, ask to speak to the staff person who handles H-2B issues.  Explain the urgent need for cap relief and ask that the Senator or Representative to support the effort by Reps. Pingree and Harris and Senators Tillis and King to lift the cap as part of the shutdown resolution.

Because of the timing, phone calls are most important, but it is also helpful if you send your lawmakers an email urging them to support this effort for H-2B cap relief.
