Landscape WorkersWASHINGTON, D.C. - A fly-in is planned for November 13, 2019 in Washington to lobby the House members to move the appropriations bill with the H-2B language. It starts at 7:30 AM. If you are interested in going, please download the flyer here for details.

Last federal fiscal year, 30,000 additional H-2B visas were made available under language in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) FY2019 appropriation bill. That language expired September 30 at the end of the federal fiscal year.

In June 2019, the House Appropriations committee passed a DHS appropriation bill that would authorize an additional 69,320 visas, in addition to the statutorily authorized 66,000. The bill also contains language that the secretary of DHS “shall” release the additional visas, rather than “may” as in the current authorization, if the secretary finds that the needs of seasonal businesses cannot be met with American workers.

House leadership has not decided yet if they will bring this bill to the floor for a vote by the full House due to continuing controversy about border wall funding, migrant detention and other white-hot immigration issues.

Now is the time to make your voice heard!
