2019-20 PLNA Foundation Scholarship Recipients

The Foundation awarded two $5000 scholarships this school year; one to a Penn State University student and one to a Temple University student. The students were required to write a professional resume and essay regarding their career aspirations. Each applicant impressed the PLNA Foundation Trustees with their passion for the industry.

Due to scheduling conflicts the Trustees were not able to present the awards in person; however, we are working with the schools to have Q & A's with the students early in 2020.

Congratulations to the 2019-20 PLNA Foundation Scholarship Recipients!

Abigail Long - Temple University Ambler Campus
Abigail is pursuing her degree in Landscape Architecture at Temple University and plans to graduate in May 2021.  Abigail has taken every opportunity to help her prepare for a successful career working as a seasonal gardener at Morris Arboretum and the Temple Ambler Arboretum during the summers. She also completed an internship with PLNA Member Stoney Bank Nurseries the summer of 2019.  Most recently she was awarded a position as a Teaching Assistant for the Woody Plants 1 class at Temple Ambler under the direction of the Ambler Arboretum Director.

Bryn Wambaugh - Penn State University
Bryn is pursuing her degree in Environmental Resource Management - Soils Science Option at Penn State University.  Bryn grew up surrounded by the influences of landscape and horticulture through her father's business, Waterfall Gardens, a PLNA Member.  She hopes to use her experience and education to bring beautiful horticulture typically seen in suburbia to urban regions, re-mediating difficult sites and developing soils that can sustain beautiful gardens. Bryn plans to graduate in May 2021.

The Foundation Trustees look forward to growing and continuing the scholarship program in the future.  If you know of any students who may be eligible – family, friend or intern, please inform them about the program. The 2020-2021 scholarship application will be available on in March 2020.
